Spring Time

Spring has sprung, the grass has rise, and we know where the flowers is!

We are just budding out and the Pinot is showing it.

We are hoping that there will be no frost and we have a great year.

Bottling Starts

Two days before Christmas we bottled the Ports.  The will be added to the shopping cart in the next month.  They are very different but both wonderful.  The 2009 Pinot Noir was bottled New Years day, and may prove to be the best one yet.  The 2008 Syrah is in the blending tank and we will have one bottling day in February and one in March.  Fan us on facebook to join the "work for wine" crew, and come help.  It is great fun.

Winter is here!

The wines are finishing fermentation and starting to age. Not much will happen for several months, but there is always something happening at the winery!

Bottling season is just beginning. The glass (empty bottles) arrives tomorrow and labels should be here in about a week. Once that happens, we will start the 4 or 5 days of bottling that happens just before Christmas.

If anyone is interested in helping, fan our facebook page where we post invites for "work for wine" events.

Harvest is Coming

We are close to the start of the annual frenetic season at the winery.  The Pinot Noir should be in late this month.  Then, crush, punch down 3 times a day for 3 weeks, rack last years wine to the blending tanks to free up the barrels, press the pinot, barrel it, bottle last years Pinot, and restart the whole process with the Syrah.

We get tired just thinking about it.

Keep your eyes on the Lauterbach Cellars face book page for invites to "work for wine".

We host a "Pinot Passion" cruise of the Mediterranean starting June 17th for 10 days. Then we have 10 days in the wine country of Spain learning how the experts do it.  We are packing and the wine should be there by now.  Stew has to work in the Emergency Department 10 out of the first 13 days in June so it will be very busy.  There may still be a chance to get on the cruise.  Contact the Russian River Valley Wine Growers for information.
